SAGARMATHA BASE CAMP
15 NIGHTS / 16 DAYS


Itinerary Summary

Day 1: Kathmandu (Start day)
The group meeting is held in the afternoon where you will receive a briefing.

Day 2: Lukla (2820m)/ Phakding (2610m,approx 3hrs)
We take an early flight to Lukla (2820m). This is our Starting point of our trek. We head North and start our trek to Phakding (2610m) walking past small villages lined with stone walls and plenty of chortens. The path initially is a descend and then climbs up towards the end of our days walk.

Day 3- 4: Namche Bazaar (3440m, approx 6-7hrs)
Todays trek is a steady ascend to the Capital of the Sherpa Land. We pass beautiful stretches lined with rhododendron and magnolia forests. Crossing the village of Monjo (entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. The last 3hrs is a slow ascends to the bustling and sprawling town of Namche Bazaar. We spend our days learning the life of the Sherpa’s and enjoy views of Everest. Important for us to acclimatize to the altitude here.

Day 5: Phortse Gaon (3810m, approx 5-6hrs)
We get off the beaten track and head to Phortsegaon. The trail is steep for 2hrs and then a gradual ascend which takes us past some beautiful views of the mountains. Look out for the tahr, mountain goats, has they carefully tackle the slopes.

Day 6- 7: Dingboche (4360m, aprrox 5-6 hrs)
Walking past working yaks, we head towards desolate yet naturally gifted landscape. The views today are stunning. The Peak of Ama Dablam is constant and reminds us of what awaits us as we inch towards our goal. We stay the night here and the next day we acclimatize. The option of walking to a nearby Chukung village will rewards us with stunning views of Ama Dablam , Makalu etc. Peak.

Day 8: Lobuche ( 4930m, approx 5-6hrs)
As we ascend at a slow and sensible pace the elevation we have gained seems obvious. The barren and boulder strewn trails lead us to Lobuche, where sunset on the tall Nuptse ( m) is beautiful & serene.

Day 9: Everest Base Camp( 5367m) & O/nt at Gorakshep ( 5,160m) approx 9hrs
Monumental day, as we enter into the Khumbu valley the trail ahead is steep and rough. The trail changes constantly and we reach Gorakshep for lunch. After our brief halt we head towards Everest Base Camp. The glacier is under the moraine and the constant cracking of the glacier is as sound to get familiar with. We spend the night in Gorakshep.

Day 10: Kalapathar (5545m) &O/nt at Pheriche (4240m) approx 7hrs
To reach the top is high and demanding but worth every inch of our effort. The view, from the vantage point of Kalapathar, is a carpet of mountains right beneath your nose, Lakes, mountains (Everest, Nuptse, Pumori etc..) glaciers, ice falls flags , take it all in simply enjoy the expanse. We then head back down to Pheriche.

Day 11: Tengboche (3860m, aprrox 4-5 hrs)
We descend back along the Dudh Koshi and leave the mountainous landscape back to the Gompa town

Day 12: Monjo (2700m, approx 6-7hrs)
Tracing our steps we head past Namche Bazaar. Trail past forests of rhododendron, magnolia and giant firs we reach our comforts at Monjo

Day 13: Lukla (2820, approx 4-5hrs)
We head down the almost easy trail and catch the last remaining glimpse of the surreal world we trekked through as we bid adieu to the beautiful Sherpa people & their culture.

Day 14- 15: KTM
We catch our flight back to KTM. The following day will be visiting the famous sites of Kathmandu; Pashupatinath, Boudanath, Swayambunath. Spend some time buying souvenirs, toast to our fabulous crew and the Mighty Himalayas.
